Roberto MARABINI

Roberto MARABINI

Biography

Roberto Marabini graduated in physical sciences from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1989 and obtained his PhD degree in physical sciences from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in 1995. His postdoctoral career started thanks to an industry collaboration grant between Silicon Graphics and the Biocomputing Unit of the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología. He subsequently resided in the U.S.A. for 4.5 years working at Penn University (Philadelphia) and City University of New York (1998-2002). He is currently Associate PhD Professor at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and vice-director of the Instruct Image Processing Center for Microscopy (http://i2pc.es/). His areas of interest are image processing in structural biology (mainly in aspects related to electron and X-ray microscopy), high performance computing and virology. All the software produced by Dr. Marabini is available through the XMIPP (xmipp.i2pc.es) and SCIPION (scipion.i2pc.es).
