Jesús Bescós Cano graduated in Telecommunications Engineering in 1993 and obtained a PhD in the same field in 2001, both degrees from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). He was a member of the Image Processing Group of the UPM (1993-2002) and associate professor at this university (1997-2002), and is an Associate Professor at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (since 2003), where he co-directs the Video Processing and Understanding Lab. His lines of research include video sequence analysis, content-based video indexing, 2D and 3D machine vision, etc. He has been involved in European projects related to museums (eg, RACE-Rama), education (eg, ET-Trends), audiovisual content analysis (eg, ACTS-Hypermedia, ICTS-AceMedia and Mesh), virtual reality (eg, IST -Slim-VRT), etc., and in national projects, both in the framework of public calls for R+D+i and in the framework of collaborations with the private sector, leading work teams (in several of them as PI), six doctoral theses (three pending completion), and together leading to more than fifty publications in conferences and scientific journals.
